Lulise Drops Hypnotic R&B Infused Single

Born and raised in the city of angels, 2019 is the beginning of Lulise's venture as a solo artist. Tapping into her R&B roots, she'll have you mesmerized and dancing along with her song "Read My Hips" produced by Pretty Sister (Betty Who, Rozzi), the track servies as the perfect introduction to the talented and multi-faceted singer/songwriter.

Prior to blazing her own trail as a solo musician, Lulise has been writing and performing with pop duo Honey and Jude over the last 3 years (named one of the top 100 music acts of 2016 & 2017 by Music Connection Magazine).

As a part of Honey and Jude, she cowrote and collaborated with producers such as Andres Torres (Justin Bieber, Demi Lovato) and Chapters (5 Seconds Of Summer, Jessie J).

In 2018, Lulise's songwriting skills blossomed and bloomed, mentored by all star songwriter Allan Rich (Whitney Houston, Ray Charles) penning her best songs yet. With natural talent and something to say, Lulise is here to stay.

Interview with Lulise

Question: How would you describe your music?

Lulise: I describe my music as the love child between 90s R&B and 2019 pop: rich chord progressions and undeniable groove underneath catchy hooks and melodies.

Question: What inspired "Read My Hips?"

Lulise: The Shawn Mendes song "Where Were You in the Morning." I was OBSESSED with that song when it came out and I knew I had to write a song like it. I was getting some fresh air and walking my dog one day when the lyric 'read my hips' just popped into my mind. As soon as I had the idea I got so excited because I could already imagine the fun and flirty song it was going to be.

Question: What motivates you most when writing music?

Lulise: I think my biggest motivation when writing music is the fact that one song could completely change your life. Every day is an opportunity to create that song that could last for decades. Even if the song I am writing at the moment isn't great or life changing, it's a stepping stone towards the song that is.

Question: Which is your favourite song to perform live and why?

Lulise: "Taken," my next single coming out in July! I love performing "Taken" because there's a part in the song when the audience sings along and every time I have performed it, people sing along so loud! There's nothing quite like the feeling I get when an audience sings my song back to me.

Question: Do you prefer performing live or recording?

Lulise: That's such a tough question! Both of them are amazing and incredibly challenging in their own way. I love creating in the studio but I am going to have to go with performing live. When I sing in front of an audience I can feel people connecting with the music, which is one of the most rewarding feelings as musician. Feeding off of an audience's energy makes my voice feel so free whereas in the studio I tend to get in my head a lot.

Question: If you could have anyone, in the world, attend a show, who would it be?

Lulise: My grandparents; they passed away when I was very young, I would have loved for them to see me now.

Question: Which music/artists are you currently listening to?

Lulise: Lately I love listening to new music! Nothing inspires me to write more than discovering new artists and songs I have never heard before. "Broke" by Samm Henshaw and "Look At Me Now" by Emily King are two gems I have discovered lately.

Question: What or who was your inspiration to go into the music industry?

Lulise: My manager, Alexandra Lee; she is the first person who ever believed that my dreams were possible. She inspired me to believe in myself and to this day is my biggest supporter.

Question: If you could collaborate with another artist, who would it be?

Lulise: I would love to collaborate with H.E.R.

Question: What is the biggest challenge you have faced along the way to your musical success?

Lulise: Being an independent artist and a young woman who supports herself, the cost of building a music career has been a big challenge. I have big dreams and big ideas that require a big budget that I don't have (laughs). But, I have been so lucky thus far to work with amazingly talented collaborators who know exactly how to bring my visions to life.

Question: What's a typical day like?

Lulise: I usually split up my day between working one of five part time jobs and creating. Whether that's writing a song, going to the studio, creating photos/videos, or strategizing ideas to further my career. My schedule right now is crazy, no day feels typical, but hopefully soon my whole schedule will revolve solely around music!

Question: What has been your favourite part of becoming a music artist?

Lulise: I know I only have one song out but seeing people's reactions to the music have been amazing. I know I love the song because I wrote it, but hearing how much people love it and their responses online makes me so excited to release more music.

Question: Can you share your socials?
