MCG this September

As we enter the most exciting part of the footy season, the National Sports Museum (NSM) offers kids the chance to embrace footy fever, as well as share in the greatest moments in Australia's sporting history and participate in interactive activities.

MCG Open Day
On Sunday September 28, the day after the 2014 AFL Grand Final, the MCG will be open for everyone to enjoy. MCG Open Day is a free event allowing families to gain rare access to the hallowed turf for kick-to-kick and visit the National Sports Museum at a discounted rate. Register your interest in attending to be in the running for some cool MCG prizes!

A day in the life of a footballer
Kids will be able to imagine what it's like to be a professional footballer when they take part in our new AFL Victoria program. Representatives from other sports, including Melbourne United basketball players, will visit the NSM to share their sporting tips! Keep an eye on www.nsm.org.au for updates.

Challenge a Champ in Game On!
Kids can test their goal-kicking skills against AFL players, run out the batsman on a virtual cricket pitch, put their hand-eye coordination to the test and kick, throw, shoot, ride, race and run to their heart's content in Game On! Check our Twitter and Facebook page for updates on special guest appearances.

The Coaches Courtyard
At the Coaches Courtyard kids will be able to participate in a range of sports-themed 'make and take" activities, including creating and decorating their own paper sports shoes.

Other highlights
For those who want to rest their feet, NSM Cinema Sport offers non-stop sporting action screening films created especially for the NSM, or families can recharge their batteries with a bite to eat or a cup of coffee at the Paddock Cafe.

Visitors can also top their day off with a tour around the mighty MCG.
