Montgomery Opal 67

Montgomery Opal 67

Melbourne producer, singer, and songwriter Montgomery is thrilled to finally release her long-awaited sophomore EP 'Opal 67' into the world.

Opening with the heart-tugging dreamscape 'Thinking About You', Montgomery's ethereal collection unfolds in a six track sonic journey fitting of any coming of age film soundtrack. Amongst four brand new tracks are triple j rotation single 'Close To Being Apart' and Good Nights debuted follow-up 'Lavender Haze'.

Reflecting on her previous achievements, including her revered debut effort 'New Clear War',  Montgomery explains 'Opal 67' "feels like a natural progression and the next step in my journey as a writer and producer."

"'Opal 67' is a dramatic retelling of the interpersonal connections I've made and lost while trying to navigate through adulthood. The themes found within these tracks are those of love, loss, acceptance and hope. I've been wanting to release this EP for what feels like a very long time and after spending two years at home writing and recording alone in my studio, while also working remotely with my friends Hamish Patrick and Gab Strum on co-production for a few tracks and Sam Sproull on mixing and mastering, it's made this release feel particularly intimate which is something I value in the art I consume.

"I'm so excited to share 'Opal 67' in full, as it's intended to be more than the sum of its parts."

'Opal 67' arrives after a welcome and fruitful musical homecoming for Montgomery with the single 'Close To Being Apart'. The track received a triple j spot addition following its Home & Hosed premiere, alongside abundant domestic support from the likes of MTV Australia, Rage, The Music, the AU review, Ramona Magazine, AusPop, Something You Said, Sounds of Oz, Australian Music Scene and more. It was also met with love from community radio across the country, including FBi, RTR FM, Edge Radio, and Radio Adelaide to name a few. 'Lavender Haze' followed suit in December, debuting on triple j's Good Nights program followed by multiple spins on Home & Hosed, alongside additions on Spotify's Just Chill, Apple Music's New Music Daily and Alt Pop, and Amazon Music's Brand New Music playlists.

'Opal 67' was produced by Montgomery, Hamish Patrick, and Gab Strum. Mixing and mastering duties were carried out by Samuel K Sproull.
