Mov'In Bed Outdoor Cinema Sydney

The buzz and excitement in Sydney is palpable thanks to MOV'IN BED, which has opened to rave reviews from the people that matter – the audiences.

It is like no other outdoor experience in Australia, and it's right here in the heart of Sydney. Barangaroo's new city beach is the site for the biggest outdoor screen in the country and huge, plush comfortable beds on the sand, which were fully occupied as MOV'IN BED opened its gates to the public over three incredible sold-out nights last weekend.

Showcasing the diversity of film genres across the season, audiences were treated to three riveting movies that made the most of the giant 15-metre 4K screen in brilliant colour and non-stop action. Wonka, The Hunger games: The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes and The Beekeeper were just the start of a three-month jam-packed program of new releases and classics that will screen through until April 14th.   

Vincent Fernandez, founder and director of MOV'IN BED, is known for thinking big and delivering even bigger, but he admits even he was astounded by the reactions to what his team has achieved.

"We have created a city beach in the heart of Barangaroo, popped an amazing cinema experience on it and pushed the boundaries of sound and visual quality at an outdoor cinema," he said.   

Audiences are raving about the "amazing moments" and "dreamy nights" at "the cutest cinema ever". They are drinking coconuts, frozen cocktails, wine and champagne, munching on bottomless cups of popcorn, eating hand-crafted gourmet pizzas delivered to their bedsides by personal waiters and watching the sun set. And then fixing their attention on the screen while listening to the movie's audio on glowing noise-cancelling immersive headphones.

"Innovative"…"Magical"… "a glittering evening under two sets of stars"… "Sydney's most luxurious outdoor cinema"… "an amazing idea and experience"… "Best night ever!" The reactions all over social media include those and many more accolades. 

This week sees screenings of Golden Globe-winning animated Hayao Miyazaki masterpiece The Boy and the Heron, Ridley Scott's epic Napoleon starring Joaquin Phoenix and some light, sexy romantic comedy with Jennifer Lawrence in No Hard Feelings. Beds at MOV'IN BED can hold up to three people, and even when those are sold out, there are tickets available to sit on the sand on beach chairs or on BYO beach towels and picnic blankets. 

Further into the three-month season, lengthier films like Killers of the Flower Moon will have an intermission just like the good old movie theatre days, and special events will be presented around specially observed days for lovers and singles alike. Stay tuned for more announcements!
