Nates Scholes The Fear Interview

Nates Scholes The Fear Interview

Interview with Will Scholes

Question: How would you describe your music?

Will Scholes: Our music always starts off being basic folk music but somewhere during the recording process it always goes a bit alternative/indie/folk as we start to experiment.

Question: Can you tell us about The Fear?

Will Scholes: The Fear is a song about the future and the uncertainty that goes along with thinking about what's next.

Question: Do you prefer performing live or recording?

Will Scholes: Probably performing live, but I think we both have a love for the song writing process.

Question: If you could have anyone, in the world, attend a show, who would it be?

Will Scholes: The list is endless but it would have to be Justin Vernon; playing to him would be a dream come true.

Question: What is the story behind the band name?

Will Scholes: So the band comes from a mixture of both our names; Nate comes from Winks family, a nickname she gets called at home, Scholes is my last name.

Question: How did the band come together?

Will Scholes: So we met at University and realised we had a common interest in similar music. We both played guitar and I knew Wink sung, so we decided to play a few gigs together and it all snowballed from there.

Question: What motivates you most when writing music?

Will Scholes: For me it's an outlet to put down onto paper what's on my mind in a creative way.

Question: Which music/artists are you currently listening to?

Will Scholes: The last month I've been obsessed with phoebe Bridgers and Maggie Rogers; also Angie McMahon's new album is amazing!

Question: What or who was your inspiration to go into the music industry?

Will Scholes: It's currently more of a passion of ours then a job, we are just loving what we are doing at the moment and enjoying the process of showing people our music.

Question: If you could collaborate with another artist, who would it be?

Will Scholes: Probably john Mayer or Justin Vernon, I think as collaborative artists they are probably the best.

Question: What's a typical day like?

Will Scholes: Well we both have full time jobs outside of music so no two days are the same. Wink is a midwife and I've been doing odd jobs around completing my University degree, we both are pretty busy.

Question: What has been your favourite part of becoming a music artist?

Will Scholes: I don't think we've ever looked to become anything more than what we are. We try to be as authentic as possible to and I think that shows in our music.
