Oceanique Hiding From You

Oceanique Hiding From You

Western Australian twin sisters Maddy and Jess Larkman have been crafting a unique blend of transcendental folk under the wonderfully apt moniker, Oceanique since first gracing the local scene in 2019. With a name as vast and serene as the ethereal sounds they conjure together, it's no wonder Oceanique have drawn such an immediate and devoted following. After releasing a handful of stunning introductory singles, the pair dropped their defining debut EP Flowers from Home earlier this year, cementing the outfit as one of the country's most exciting artists to watch. In the fast flowing current of the release, Oceanqiue is thrilled to be sharing their first single from their forthcoming debut album, 'Hiding From You' and announce a five-date run of local summer tour dates.

Out via CD Baby, 'Hiding From You' is a sun-kissed indie folk ballad written shortly after the duo's six-week regional EP tour. An ode to life on the road, 'Hiding From You' is buoyed by a yearning for travel and the seemingly endless freedom that comes with it. Gentle piano and guitar are carried on the warm breeze of Jess and Maddy's heavenly vocal harmonies that draw you in like a beckoning will-o'-the-wisp under a summer night's sky. The single was produced, recorded and mixed by James Newhouse (The Waifs), with Jess on piano, Maddy plucking on acoustic and James on electric, and was mastered by William Bowden.

"Hiding from You was written off the back of our recent EP release and six-week tour in March 2021. It was drawn from the feeling of longing the comfort and warmth of the sun on the windscreen and the ever-changing faces met and places seen on tour, it captures the emotions and wide-open spaces of life on the road." – Oceanique

As a live act, Oceanique are a gentle yet undeniable force to be reckoned with. The outfit has shared stages with WAM award nominees Tracey Barnett and Tanya Ransom, and performed a string of captivating live shows throughout Western Australia on their six-week Flowers from Home regional tour, including a standout performance at Nannup Music Festival. Oceanique's music has been shared on community radio across the country by the likes of Double J, 4ZZZ, RTR FM, ABC Southwest, Denmark FM and more and they've been endorsed by Australian folk heavyweight, Henry Wagons. Whether performing as a duo, trio (with lap steel), or with a full band, Oceanique's seasoned musicianship and ineffable sibling chemistry continue to resonate long after the final siren song. Do not miss your chance to catch this awe-inspiring talent live when they roll into Albany, Yallingup, Margaret River, Esperance and Fremantle this November.
