Off The Record 25 Years of Music Street Press

Off The Record: 25 Years of Music Street Press is the ultimate music fan's homage to a heady 25 years of rock 'n' roll.

This collection brings together the best interviews and articles from Australia's street press.

Many pieces come from Time Off, the first free music weekly in Australia. It began in 1979 and is still going strong from its Brisbane bolthole.

The writing in this collection is fiercely independent and steers well clear of fruity record company spin.

It's also a unique insight into recent music history. With over 80 interviews featuring Australian and International acts such as Hunters & Collectors, The Church, The Ramones and Sonic Youth to contemporary darlings The Arctic Monkeys and Angus & Julia Stone.

Sean Sennett is a music journalist and singer/songwriter. Between 1990 and 2008, Sean was variously editor, managing editor, owner and publisher of Time Off, a weekly music street magazine and institution since 1979. Sean has written for music magazines and newspapers such as Rolling Stone, the Word, the Australian and the Age. He now runs Time Off Media.

Simon Grothis a Brisbane-based writer and editor. His novels have been shortlisted in the Text Prize and twice in the Queensland Premier's Emerging Author Award. His short fiction has been published in Meanjin, Overland and Island.
