On Our Shores

For hundreds of years many have set sail to call Australia home. With refugees risking their lives at sea, the Australian government is still shipping children and women into offshore detention centres. Melbourne Playback Theatre Company puts a spotlight on why we continue the plea for all people to be treated humanely, and invites you to experience the stories of Refugees and Activists in this special Refugee Week event.

A part the 2016 Melbourne Playback Theatre Company Q&A Series, On Our Shores intertwines theatre and discussion - with a panel featuring prominent Refugees and Asylum Seeker Activists, followed by an interactive performance.

Panellists for this evening include CEO of Asylum Seekers Resource Centre Kon Karapanagiotidis, Author Mariam Issa and Lucy Hohan from the Refugee Action Collective, with more special guests soon to be announced.

Melbourne Playback Theatre's ensemble of professional actors, musicians and MCs have been captivating audiences for over 30 years with their unique form of improvised theatre; transforming shared, real-life events into powerful and engaging stories on the stage.
