Bells Beach in Victoria will play host to the Piping Hot Surf Festival, which will kick-off the Association of Surfing Professionals (ASP) 2014 season on January 3rd.
The festival, which runs for five days, will feature men's and women's 1-Star ASP World Tour divisions and men's and women's 1-Star ASP Australasia Pro Junior Series divisions.
Hosting 1-Star events allows up and coming surfers to better their rankings so that they can compete for higher ranking competitions and better prize money - and gives the Piping Hot team the opportunity to scope out some fresh new talent.
'We are incredibly proud to be hosting the Piping Hot Surf Festival and to be back in the grassroots sponsorship arena; this is the heart of what we do and we can't wait for the Piping Hot name to get back to Bells where it was born," says Danielle Lowe, Piping Hot General Manager.
'Not only this, but by holding both an ASP World Tour event as well as an ASP Pro Junior event, the Piping Hot Surf Festival can really open up doors to young Aussie surfing talent – and we're passionate about young surfers, " she says.
The event marks the return to competition of rising Aussie female surf star and Piping Hot Team Rider, Codie Klein, 20, who has been in recovery for the last few months since tearing her meniscus earlier in the year.
