Plaitum Higher
Reaching critical acclaim and dance floor admiration with their darkly electric track -LMHY', English duo Plaitum return with -Higher' the second cut off their self-titled EP, out today. Under the guidance of the Grammy award-winning Paul Epsworth, Plaitum are joining Glass Animals, releasing the EP on his Wolf Tone label.
Originally a piano ballad, the track was transformed to perpetuate the duo's dark electro pop sensibilities. Heavy cuts of oscillating synths and permeating drums thick with reverb are accompanied by a call and response of transposed vocals. Laden with dance floor appeal, the hypnotic production centres on the theme of saving a loved one from self-destruction.
-Higher' marks the continuation of Plaitum's return to the scene since their wildly popular release, -Geisha', which grabbed the attention of French imprint Kitsuné, who featured the duo in their series of prestigious compilations. With tracks, videos and remixes from their self-titled EP seeing critical acclaim from Fader, Fact, Stereogum and Clash Magazine, Plaitum's dark and intense signature sound is being embraced worldwide.
