Sydney indie rock/alt pop group PLANET have once again delivered up a punchy, guitar-infused earworm of a track with the release of their latest single 'Resign' out via Dew Process.
Written & recorded entirely in lockdown, the band worked with Grammy Award winning producer Adrian Bushby (Muse, New Order, Placebo, U2, Foo Fighters), as well as long-time collaborator Lachlan Mitchell.
Describing the single, lead singer Matty says, "Resign is a pop summer anthem with the instrumentation hitting you straight in the face. Lyrically it's about not being enough in someone's eyes, and it affects you to the point of collapse but trying to break past it to make it work."
Guitarist Tom adds, "It's the first track we've released that was written completely in lockdown. I had the chorus laying in the vault and sent it back and forth with Matty, fleshing it out and finishing it off. It was an obvious first single choice for us, doesn't stray too far from our sound and is super upbeat and catchy."
The latest release follows on from singles 'Never Knew' & 'Reason Why', which found support from triple j, Pilerats, Life Without Andy & Hhhappy.
In exciting news, PLANET announce that they have signed to Australian label Dew Process, who are renowned for nurturing and developing Australian talent including Tkay Maidza, Mallrat & Tyne James-Organ.
Head of A & R at Dew Process, Johnny Mullen commented on the signing, "We're thrilled to be working with Planet, such a dynamic and exciting young band. We've always admired their sense of melody and song craft and it's an honour to have them join the Dew Process roster. Seriously can't wait for people to hear that they've been working on over the last year and Resign is a great first taste."
PLANET discussed the recent signing, "We're really excited to finally announce our signing to Run On Records/Modern Sky UK and Dew Process in Australia. Being an independent band for many years it feels great to have a solid backing now with a strong team. Keen to get these new tunes out into the world!"
Since their debut in 2017, PLANET has gone from strength to strength when it comes to the development of their central sound, as well as their musical dynamic. With over one million streams to date, and a solid international and domestic presence as a live band, the latest single is just a taste of what's to come.
