Cool, Calm & Collected
Award-winning Portuguese architect Miguel Saraiva took a sensitive approach, ensuring the slate-covered, low-rise building would complement the beautiful Algarve landscape. Each of the 40 suites has either a garden or sea view, and features a separate living room, bedroom, balcony and kitchenette (equipped with refrigerator, microwave and
electric stove). Interior designer Pureza Magalhães, who also hails from Portugal, combined natural materials such as wood, straw and slate with neutral colors and greenery to create a warm and inviting atmosphere.

 

Heart & Soul
Praia Verde's commitment to all-things-local begins in the onsite store, À Terra Grocery, where products from the region are available including cereals, balsamic vinegars, olive oils and homemade jam. The store can be found in the central -market lobby' which was part of Magalhães' interior design concept. The space brings together the reception, bar, grocery store and restaurant in one central hub at the heart of the property, where guests come together to socialise. The pool bar, with a wooden terrace under a canopy of green, is another place to relax and soak in the laidback atmosphere over light meals and chilled cocktails.

Further promoting a family atmosphere, Praia Verde has developed a series of activities for children of all ages. The weekly event calendar includes painting classes, treasure hunts, face painting, cooking classes and theatre. The hotel also features a well-equipped playroom and offers a range of outdoor pursuits including family bike rides, dolphin watching and golf.

Inspired by Nature
The hotel's restaurant, À Terra, is inspired by Mediterranean gastronomy and is based on the concept of dishes being served -family-style' for everyone to share and enjoy together. The healthy country food is made with fresh seasonal ingredients including olive oil, figs, mushrooms, eggplant and Flor de Sal (a very pure type of salt), all
sourced locally from the region. The sharing concept also continues through to dessert which the restaurant offers in abundance: homemade ice-cream, mousse and crème brulée are just some of what can be savoured. À Terra also boasts a wood-fired oven, offering up baked treats from traditional pizzas to bruschetta and fresh homemade
breads.
