Rise of the Planet of the Apes
Cast: James Franco, Freida Pinto, Andy Serkis, John Lithgow
Director: Rupert Wyatt
Genre: Action/Sci-Fi
Rated: M
Running Time: 106 minutes
Synopsis: Rise of the Apes is an origin story in the truest sense of the term. Set in present day San Francisco, the film is a reality-based cautionary tale, a science fiction/science fact blend, where Man's experiments with genetic engineering lead to the development of intelligence in apes and the onset of a war for supremacy.
Verdict: Starring the gorgeous James Franco and Third Rock From the Sun's, John Lithgow, Rise of the Planet of the Apes is a battle of strength and intelligence between humans and apes. After developing a new medication to cure Alzheimer's disease and testing it on apes, they soon discover that it boosts the apes intelligence to a point of no return.
There is a lot of action and violence in this movie with awesome visual effects used. The apes appear to be quite realistic, especially when it comes to gestures, movements and looks. If you are an animal lover and are against animal abuse, then the fight that the apes put up after being mistreated will impress you to no end. They go on a massive rampage, causing mayhem throughout the city.
The story was easy to understand and follow, the graphics were great but overall the movie was pretty average. It was good to see on the big screen because of the action and visual effects but apart from that, I'd recommend hiring it from your local video shop. Although, if you are interested in seeing apes take on humans with plenty of action-packed scenes, then this is the perfect choice for you.
