Roxanna Unforgotten Interview

The next artist is Roxanna an emerging Canadian singer-songwriter. She has just released her debut single "Unforgotten." It is a beautiful heart-wrenching song discussing the end of a relationship, but ending with a hopeful outlook. Her voice is quite haunting, and having it paired up with the bits of flamenco style music, it'll be a track that you'll find yourself listening to over and over. Last year she released her music video to the song featuring Days of Our Lives star James Scott. The single is just a teaser to the album due out in the spring.

Interview with Roxanna

Question: How would you describe your music?

Roxanna: My music is romantic easy to listen and luxurious.

Question: Tell us about Unforgotten.?

Roxanna: It is my first single. I wrote this song a decade ago when I was heartbroken from my ex-fiancé. Unforgotten is a song, which can relate to everyone who has lost someone they loved. When I wrote this song I knew someday I will be making a beautiful music, which I could share with everyone in the world.

Question: Do you write your own songs? What's your inspiration?

Roxanna: Yes! I write my own songs except, 'Close Your Eyes", 'El Amor" and 'Only You". I usually write when I go away to Spain or to a beautiful place where I see nature. Also, I get my inspiration after watching a good movie or my favourite TV shows.

Question: What music/artists do you listen to when you are not playing your own?

Roxanna: I generally, listen to songs that have meaning.

I usually listen to the Jazz and classical music stations.
I love listening to Julio Iglesias, George Michael, Chris De Burgh and Madonna.

Question: What's next? Tour/Album/Single?

Roxanna: My album 'Exotica", should be released in couple of months. There will be a deluxe and a regular version. There will be touring arranged by my team.

Question: Was there a moment you contemplated throwing in the towel?

Roxanna: There were some difficult moments throughout the process of making the music, but I NEVER considered giving up. This is what I've always dreamed about doing and I know nothing comes easy.

Question: Do you prefer performing live or recording?

Roxanna: They are two different things. Recording a song is not as easy as people may think. It takes plenty of rest, including resting your voice, and good night sleep, relaxation and breathing techniques. It's more intense.

I love to perform live where I can connect with my audience and fans and see their reactions. I love the adrenalin and the whole excitement of performing live.

Question: What/who was your inspiration to go into the music industry?

Roxanna: Since I was little girl, I've always admired my mothers singing. She has a beautiful voice and she always loved to sing when there was a gathering.

Olivia Newton-John has been a great inspiration for me to learn how to speak and sing in English. I love her voice.

Madonna is a great performer and I love everything about her. I always thought she is a perfect example of a successful woman.

Question: What is the biggest challenge you have faced along the way to your musical success?

Roxanna: Since I live in Toronto Canada, to record my album I had to travel to and from Los Angeles, the biggest challenge was leaving my ailing mother behind, not being there to take care of her and be beside her. In and out of hospital, there was a chance that I would not have seen her again. She is doing much better now and loves to listen to my album all day long.

Question: What's a typical day like?

Roxanna: I love going to movies, hanging out with my family and friends and cuddle with my cute dog, Tiffany. I cannot go through the day without listening to music. I practice my vocals and write music.

Question: What has been your favourite part of becoming a music artist?

Roxanna: Finally being able to transform the lyrics that I wrote into an actual song and sharing them with everyone to enjoy.

Question: If you could collaborate with another artist, who would it be?
Roxanna: I always wanted to sing with my idol, Olivia Newton John, and Julio Iglesias. If Michael Jackson was still alive, he would also be on my list.

Question: Do you have a website fans can visit?

Roxanna: www.Roxannamusic.com
On my website you can find all the different links including my videos.
