SACHIV Finding Forever Interview

The sky's the limit, so they say. But this is not the case for Perth-based artist SACHIV. For this promising multi-talented emcee, the possibilities in life are limitless and infinite"and this is exactly the message he tries to tell in his forthcoming EP title 'Finding Forever', now out on all streaming platforms.

Written by SACHIV"with production, mixing, and mastering by SKYY"the five-track project chronicles his life experiences in the past six to seven years, with all its trials, tribulations, and triumphs. Along with 'Chasing Rainbows', 'Never Was Enough', and 'Fears', which have been previously released, the EP highlights two new songs 'The Realist' and 'Finding Forever'. The fresh tracks complete the arc of SACHIV's story from despair to hope, from pain to zeal.

Inspired by the hip-hop icons of his generation such as J.Cole, Drake, Kendrick Lamar, Nipsey Hussle, PARTYNEXTDOOR, and Nas, among others, SACHIV's penchant for songwriting started early on and has continued over the years. With this, he was able to perform in the Black Lives Matter charity event in Perth, and recently headlined two major shows in the city.

Indeed, from being an underdog, SACHIV is well on his way to becoming a king in his own right. With a couple of music videos coming up after the EP release, we have no doubt that this emerging artist has found his forever treasure in music.

Interview with SACHIV

Question: How would you describe your music?

SACHIV: My music would be a fusion of Hiphop ,R&B & Trap, but been trying to create an original sound with my partner in crime SKYY this EP is a showcase of the vibes we been creating with a mix of all of those elements even with vocals sample or any other samples, but the goal has always been to stand out from the others.


Question: Can you tell us about Finding Forever?

SACHIV: Finding Forever is a story of my journey of returning to the music game after taking several years off going through life experiences, through Depression, Happiness, Heartbreak, Losing and Winning, a lot of ups and downs and I wanted to bring a new sound to the industry with SKYY my producer/engineer mixed with different elements of hip hop and we wanted to showcase on things like Serenity, Love, Appreciation, Confidence & Tranquility.


Question: Is there a particular message you hope listeners take from your music?

SACHIV: The main message on this EP was to show people that even the underdog can become a king one day.

Have no fear towards what you are most passionate about and just wanted to inspire and relate to others going through the same journey in life.


Question: Do you prefer performing live or recording?

SACHIV: That's a hard question actually because I actually love both recording and performing equally, I love the recording and writing process the most because I get to be really creative in my own space and capture a certain vibe to the way I envisioned it and making it come to life, but I love to perform the songs and connect with the crowd on an intimate level and the energy can be very surreal a lot of the times and that gives me validation that the music is touching the people and not just myself and also keeps me very inspired to keep recording and writing more songs to share.


Question: Which is your favourite song to perform live and why?

SACHIV: I would say CHASING RAINBOWS would be my personal favorite song to perform LIVE because it's probably the build up to the beat drop where people don't know what to expect and it's a very inspiring uplifting song at the same time and it really catches the crowd with my stage presence.


Question: Can we expect any upcoming shows?

SACHIV: I haven't got any shows lined up as we speak but will be organising more shows to perform very soon since the Finding Forever EP is released, I'm ready to hit the stage and have fun again.


Question: What motivates you most when writing music?

SACHIV: I would say my life experiences play a big huge part in my writing, and also listening to my producer SKYY's beats really capture the vibe for me and inspires me to even go harder every single time.

Question: Which music/artists are you currently listening to?

SACHIV: I'm currently listening to a lot of neo-soul artists such as Snoh Aalegra, Sabrina Claudio, Mahalia, Jorja Smith etc and a lot of hiphop and R&B artists such as Dave East, Bryson Tiller, Tory Lanez, Phora, 6lack etc.


Question: What or who was your inspiration to go into the music industry?

SACHIV: I would say NAS was my biggest influence in the very beginning listening to songs such as IF I RULED THE WORLD, HATE ME NOW, NAS IS LIKE, THE MESSAGE, ONE MIC, MADE YOU LOOK, HEAVEN etc the list goes on, I grew up with a lot of the 90's music in my household which really played a huge part of me getting into music so much but it got me started writing poetry at first which slowly transitioned into constructing songs later on until I realised that this is something I really want to do.


Question: If you could collaborate with another artist, who would it be?

SACHIV: I would love to collaborate with so many artists the list is never ending, but at the moment I would really love to work with artists such as 6lack, Tory Lanez, PARTYNEXTDOOR or Bryson Tiller.


Question: What has been your favourite part of becoming a music artist?

SACHIV: My favorite part is when everything I envision comes to life like my song concepts, my ideas for music videos or ideas for my artwork or even the roll out for the project, just overall the feeling of being heard and to inspire and to connect with my listeners through my music makes me feel really happy and grateful.


Question: What's a typical day like?
SACHIV: Well at the moment realistically I'm working a full time day job just like everyone else, as I have bills to pay for that day to day life, also saving up to invest into my brand NIN9ONE and into my music and videos that I also creative direct myself, I don't believe in days off, I always try to productive in any way possible every single day to reach all my goals that I set out to achieve.


Question: What's next, for you?

SACHIV: Just released this FINDING FOREVER EP for now, but next up I'm planning to shoot a music video for my song THE REALIST which is from the EP, but also to keep promoting and get this music out there to the masses, but already in and out the studio with my partner in crime SKYY and we have set out a lot of goals to achieve so we already working on the next project, I don't usually give away much info about what I'm working on or what's to come but I do have another 5 track EP in the works as we speak coming out soon.
