Lifestyle Communities has announced its inaugural community wide Arts Show to celebrate the creative talents within their diverse over-50s communities.
Held on Wednesday August 28th at the Melbourne Pavilion, the inaugural Simpson Arts Prize will be open to the public and showcases the skills of Lifestyle Communities' homeowners across fine art, photography, woodwork, ceramics, needlework, paper craft, sculpture, quilting and videography.
The event's judging panel will include Channel Nine personality Livinia Nixon, Lifestyle Communities Managing Director James Kelly and Art and Craft expert Ramona Barry, who will judge the finalists across 10 distinct categories with each category winner receiving a cheque for $1,000.
Lifestyle Communities' Managing Director James Kelly said that The Simpson Arts Prize is a great way to celebrate and unearth their artistic talents across the 3,500 homeowners who live in their communities. "As we get older, our lived experience is greater and to be able to tap into this through creative expression is just such a fantastic opportunity.
We have been overwhelmed by the interest from our homeowners wanting to take part in this new wellness initiative and have a platform to showcase their hidden talents to the wider community". Simpson Arts Prize judge and Channel Nine personality Livinia Nixon said she's excited to unearth the stories behind the artworks that will be on display.
"The Simpson Arts Prize is a very special opportunity for Lifestyle Communities' homeowners to express their experiences through art; whether it is a beautiful sculpture, a series of photographs or an inspiring short film. I am sure I will have my work cut out for me choosing just one winner per category!"
Named after Warren and Pauline Simpson – the very first homeowners to move into a Lifestyle Community in 2005 - the Simpson Arts Prize is one of many initiatives powered by Lifestyle Wellness, the company's bespoke Wellness Program.
Each of the 13 Lifestyle Communities across Melbourne and Victoria will be running separate exhibitions where homeowners can vote on the top creations across 10 categories to exhibit at the final art show at the Melbourne Pavilion on Wednesday 28 August.
