Slumberjack with Daniel Johns
With their last single Enigma (ft. GRRL PAL) reaching 3.5 million streams, reaching #4 on the Hype Machine charts, and hailed by the likes of Beats 1's Anna Lunoe, Perth duo Slumberjack return with Open Fire.
Teaming up with Daniel Johns, the previous frontman of Silverchair and The Dissociatives, Open Fire is out today via Onelove/Mad Decent. This comes with the news that the pair will be performing at Splendour in the Grass and Lollapalooza.
With divergent cultural influences and a unique blend of energetic beats and rhythmic foundations, the music of Slumberjack is born from its creators' passion for contrast. Made up of DJ/producers Morgan Then and Fletcher Ehlers, the duo dig into their disparate backgrounds and push into thrillingly original sonic territory.
The lead single Body Cry (ft. Father Dude) off their iTunes #2 charting 2014 debut self-titled EP was a melody-driven EDM-meets-RNB fusion that attracted the attention of Skrillex and Diplo. Reaching 1.7 million Soundcloud plays, it was quickly followed by the hypnotic Eastern flavour of -Horus-, which featured as the soundtrack to the current global Tom Ford campaign and hit 3 million streams and a Hype Machine #1.
With praise for their music flowing in from the likes of Skrillex, Diplo, Porter Robinson, Peking Duk, Ta-Ku, What So Not, SAFIA, Nina Las Vegas and more, Slumberjack have played smash sets to audiences at This That, Splendour in the Grass, BIGSOUND and Stereosonic as well as their debut US shows at Holy Ship and Snowglobe Festivals.
