Candy brand Sour Patch announces appointment of Australia's first Tongue Trainer

What's your most valuable asset? Your brain, your beauty – or is it your tongue? In a world-first initiative, international candy brand Sour Patch is exploring a significant investment into Aussie tongues to enhance the way Australians consume its products – by coaching them.

Earlier this year, Sour Patch revealed it was on the lookout for volunteers to join a tasting panel for its products. The 'taste-tester panel' has now completed its first gig, tasting Sour Patch's new phenomenon – Tricksters. However, this new product presented the panel with a number of major challenges in their new role.

The Tricksters product is so-called due to its ability to play tricks on the brain – and the tongue – with the taste of the product different from the sight. The 'taste-tester panel' themselves couldn't guess the flavours so Sour Patch has decided to appoint Master Vocal Coach of Vocal Alchemy, Tim Smith, as the brand's 'Tongue Trainer' to show all Aussies how to solve the trick in Tricksters!

"A lot of Aussies are unaware of the agility and versatility of their tongues but let me tell you, it is an organ with extremely high potential! I have long worked with many well-known singers to get the best out of their tongues so when Sour Patch approached me for this role and explained the issues others were having, I felt compelled to come on board "said Smith.

"There is an art to using your tongue and it is the key to unlocking a great sensory experience - I hope I can help Aussies find their way and appreciate them more than ever!"

Head Sour Taster at Sour Patch Australia, Rohin Rosman said, "Test-tasting candy is critical to the success of our business. As such, we need to ensure the tongues of our panel are well trained. We're also looking at ways in which we can offer our panel dedicated support to keep their tongues intact and taken care of."

In addition to its 'tongue training' initiative, Sour Patch has also revealed it is in the early stages of exploring a 'tongue insurance' package for its taste testers. Early details of the proposed package include a rigorous testing program by candy scientists to ensure tongues are in full working order with optimal flavour detection.

Sour Patch Tricksters is the latest addition to the Sour Patch family and is set to be one of the most surprising product ever seen in the candy aisle in Australia. The flavoursome sour jellies come in three different colours; yellow, purple & red. Regardless of their exterior, the jellies have every chance of tasting like Raspberry or Apple, Blackcurrant or Orange and Lemon or Cola – and it's down to Aussie tongues to decipher exactly what they will be.
