Thursday nights at South Melbourne are back this spring, under the new banner of South Melbourne Night Market - a reinvention of the popular Thursday night event, Style After Dark.
 
Catering to fashionistas, foodies and music lovers, the vibrant weekly night market, now in its fifth year and held over the warmer months at South Melbourne Market, has become one of the must-do calendar events of the year.
 
A street market with style, South Melbourne Night Market is returning on October 31st &ndash December 19th, every Thursday from 5.30pm.
 
Located along the street in the heritage magnificence of the South Melbourne Market with its wide verandahs, the night market provides a vital outlet for an exciting local community of eclectic designers &ndash from new and vintage clothing, accessories and jewellery, to headwear, home wares and children&rsquos clothing and toys, the stalls at South Melbourne Market showcase the finest of Melbourne&rsquos artisans, celebrating diversity and creativity.
 
Food is traditionally a major part of the South Melbourne Night Market and this year, Melbourne&rsquos famous food trucks will be permanently parked on Coventry Street.  Culinary treats from previous regulars and newcomers will be available each week: Chingon Taco Truck, The Food Dude, Bretzel Biz and Crepes, to name a few.
 
The newly revamped Cecil Street will be abuzz under the awnings, with al fresco dining available, rain, hail or shine.
 
There's great food from around the world.  Feast on famous paella, tapas and sangria at Simply Spanish or the best roast duck and dumplings in town at Linx BBQ and Yum Cha.  Devour delicious Turkish cuisine from Koy or indulge in succulent seafood and Teppanyaki-style dishes at Claypots Evening Star and The Seafood Peddler. If it&rsquos tacos, tostados and tequila you&rsquore after try the South Melbourne Market&rsquos latest addition, Paco y Lola.   It&rsquos a food safari every night!
 
Music goes hand in hand with fashion, food and nightlife, and South Melbourne Night Market showcases some of Melbourne&rsquos hottest new acts on the live scene, with different bands on Cecil and Coventry Streets every week.  An assorted mix of performers accompanying DJs, belly dancers, roving performers and music styles from all over the world is what makes South Melbourne Night Market a street market like no other, where you can find that new frock, or feast on delicious street food.
 
South Melbourne&rsquos funky retail concept, SO:ME Space (www.somespace.com.au), is open every night throughout the Night Market season, bringing together the best emerging and established designers such as Mr Simple, The Super Cool , Bleecker Street and Stone Glint and Bone &ndash all who are regular features, as well as alternating pop-up stores. SO:ME space  is an innovative environment in which to shop, chill out with a drink and listen to The Hi Fi Lounge Lizards, a Melbourne based acoustic/electronica outfit, bringing together the finest musicianship and tastiest beats regularly at SO:ME Space.
 
The location is superb and well-supported by existing restaurants and wine bars in Cecil Street. This unique dining destination is like an all year round hawkers&rsquo market, with the restaurants and bars attached.
