Southern Italian Home Cooking is a celebration of family and the tradition of great fresh Calabrian food. Frank & Dominic Criniti, the sons of an Italian immigrant family, have preserved generations of hand-me-down recipes which form the foundation of their family's well-known restaurants.

Unique southern Italian regional dishes are brought to life with an abundance of tomato and olive oil Arancino, Calabrese tomato salad, Stuffed Mushroom, Calzone, Bruschetta and Carpaccio. Frank and Dominic also include a section on basic recipes including the recipe for their mother's bolognese, fresh pasta, and the linguine with broccoli their father Francesco would often call for.

The book is separated into seasons – Spring, Summer, Autumn and Winter and each include a short introduction such as -Italian Life', -Holidays', -My Papa' and -Papa's Produce'.

Frank and Dominic Criniti the brainchilds behind the success of Criniti's Restaurants, were born to humble immigrant parents that landed in Sydney in the early 1960's. Their childhood was spent eating traditional Italian food prepared by their Mama Rose and the ingredients were mainly dictated by the vegetables that were grown in their Father's garden. Food preparation and preservation is central to the Criniti way of life and this is where his dream to establish a traditional Italian eatery affording people the opportunity to experience Southern Italian food in a restaurant environment. Criniti's have five locations across Sydney – including Parramatta, Darling Harbour, Castle Hill, Woolloomooloo and Manly.
