Sam Scott is not your average thirteen year old girl. When Sam's friends are off shopping and chasing boys, she's blitzing her junior Aussie Rules competition.

Sam doesn't mind that she's the only girl on the Richmond under 14s team, but others do. Her father wants Sam to give up her obession with football and tackle her studies instead, then the class snob calls Sam butch and teases her about acting like a boy.

Just as she's finding her fee, Same faces another hurdle. When she turns tourteen on the eve of the finals it looks like Sam will be forced from the game she loves, just for being a girl.
