Sugar and Spice

Sugar and Spice . . . Not everyone's nice.

Fresh from being betrayed by one of her closest friends, new reality-television celebrity Jane Roberts has learned a few lessons. Most important: know who to trust. And in Hollywood, that list is short.

Although the press is intent on creating a tabloid war between her and ex-friend/current-costar Madison Parker, Jane just wants to take control of her life. She's started by swearing off guys and the drama that comes with them. But when her high school sweetheart Caleb and her unrequited L.A. crush Braden show up, both acting sweeter than ever, Jane has a hard time remembering her no-boys rule. . . .

Her best friend, Scarlett, has only one guy on her mind: her new boyfriend, Liam. The girl who once thought love was a four-letter word is now head over heels. The problem is, being on a hit reality show means hanging out with other guys on-camera, and Liam isn't too happy with pretending to play a bit part in her love life.

Just when everything feels out of control, Jane makes a shocking discovery-one that changes everyone's definition of "reality" forever.

In her deliciously entertaining novel, television star Lauren Conrad pulls back the curtain on young Hollywood and shows that sometimes the real drama is behind the scenes.

Review: The L.A. Candy novels are a guilty pleasure of mine and Sugar and Spice is the last installment in the entertaining series. Sugar and Spice, like the two other books in the series, is easy-to-read, 'unputdownable' and can be finished in just three or four short reading sessions (if you don't finish it all in one go)!

Although the L.A. Candy novels are fiction, readers can see that they're loosely based on The Hills and its fun to guess what parts and characters correlate with the 'reality' series. The L.A. Candy books showcases how 'reality' shows such as The Hills and The City are really constructed and what goes on 'behind-the-scenes'.

Accompany your reading with a big bowl of popcorn and it will feel exactly like you're watching a variety of MTV reality shows, with commentary.

The first book in the series, L.A. Candy introduces readers to Jane Roberts who has moved to L.A. for a career in events management with her best friend and USC student, Scarlett Harp. Together Jane and Scarlett end up being cast for a 'reality' series on PopTV and overnight the girls and co-stars Madison and Gaby are seen 'everywhere' and have the paparazzi and gossip magazines following their every move.

The second book in the series, Sweet Little Lies shows the impact of being a 'celebrity' and having your every move watched worldwide; whilst friends or 'frenemies' prove that nothing is as it seems in Hollywood.

In the last installment of the series, Sugar and Spice we see Scarlett and Jane rekindling their life-long friendship and prove that there is more to life than designer shoes and celebrities. Past secrets, lies, relationships and the demise of L.A. Candy's producer all feature in the final book in the L.A. Candy series.

Overall Sugar and Spice is an interesting and captivating read with an amazingly cute cover. The L.A. Candy series is a fabulous book series that I didn't want to come to an end...
