Guests of The Star will celebrate the 41st annual Sydney Festival from 7-29 January 2017 with a range of unique food and entertainment experiences.
SYDNEY FESTIVAL DJ SERIES AT SKY TERRACE
Over 11 nights in January the Sky Terrace rooftop bar at The Star will host the Sydney Festival DJ Series featuring local and international artists.
As the sun sets over Sydney, Sky Terrace will light up with an extraordinary DJ line-up playing everything from hip-hop to soul, electronica to jazz. Sydneysiders are invited to kick back with friends before or after a show from Friday to Sunday, while enjoying panoramic harbour views with a sunset cocktail or two. Line-up highlights include Australia's First Lady of Disco', CC:DISCO!, Stephen Allkins, Adi Toohey, Nick Toth and Funkdafied.
Sky Terrace will be open on 7 & 8, 13-15, 20-22, and 26-28 January – Fridays and Saturdays from 5.00pm and Sundays from 3.00pm, and from 5pm on Thursday, 26 January for Australia Day. The full line-up will be announced soon at www.star.com.au.
GLITTERBOX AT SKY TERRACE
Glitterbox is a party experience like no other, where imagination, trust, adrenalin and fun collide. This new interactive installation by Sydney-based performance art powerhouse zin is a colourful glowing cube on the Sky Terrace that you can dance in!
The never before seen installation makes its world premiere at The Star, inviting Sky Terrace guests to pick their favourite dance song and enter the glowing cube to be engulfed in glitter and dance like no one is watching – but people are watching through the mirrored glass!
Dance to the song of your choice in a kaleidoscopic vortex of mesmeric joy. Bring your friends or meet a stranger and transform you and your moves into a sensory-overloaded glitter trip of colour and light – your own mini private dance party, in public. Glitterbox is free and will take place on 7 & 8, 13-15, 20-22 and 26-28 January at 5:00-11:00pm.
LADIES IN BLACK AT SYDNEY LYRIC THEATRE
The swankiest home-grown musical since Priscilla was queen, Ladies in Black is a whirling, toe-tapping trip back in time, showing at Sydney Lyric Theatre from Tuesday, 3 January to Sunday, 22 January.
Based on the beloved 1993 novel by Madeleine St John, The Women in Black, the musical is a uniquely Australian fashion-forward fairy tale with all the shine and sparkle of Broadway.
With tunes by Tim Finn (Split Enz and Crowded House), costumes by Gabriela Tylesova (The Rabbits) and a stellar cast all woven together by highly-regarded director, Simon Phillips (Priscilla, Queen of the Desert, Love Never Dies and First Wives Club), its sure to leave you singing long after you've left the theatre. Sydney Festival attendees can enjoy delicious and speedy pre-show meals at Sokyo, BLACK Bar & Grill, Balla, Fat Noodle and Pizzaperta at The Star.
Signature restaurants BLACK Bar & Grill, Balla and Sokyo will serve set-menus for $55pp, while Fat Noodle will serve a one-course meal with beer, wine or soft drink for $30pp, and Pizzaperta will serve two pieces of arancini, pizza and beer, wine or soft drink for ($30).
