teddie, aka Teleah Riordan has been cutting her teeth as live saxophonist for imbi (formerly known as imbi the girl), and now with a new alias and a fun and bouncy club bop due to drop, is ready to take her first confident steps toward a solo career.
Working in collaboration with Campbell Burns from 'Vacations', teddie has been preparing brand new material, resulting in this first offering "call me" which came together quickly in the duo's very first inspired session together and then fine-tuned over the proceeding months.
"call me" also features fellow Novocastrians on the come-up Craterface. The hip hop duo guest on both vocals and co-production for the track. A manifest of the strong sense of friendship and a DIY attitude quintessentially "Newcastle" is definitely on showcase here.
"call me" gleams in a sparse, warm wash of sound as Teddie's swoon inducing vocals glide atop a classic analogue rhythm track, hinting down the line to her absent subject that she is always home if he needs to call. Playing hard to get, Craterface's flow explains that the phone is always on 'flightmode' and so goes another exploration into the vagaries of relationships in 2020's.
For teddie, the prospect that this release will surprise a lot of her friends and colleagues is a thrilling one as she adds, "I don't think anyone's expecting this from me but this has been a little dream I've had for a really long time"
While teddie and the rest of the industry waits for touring opportunities to open back up she will continue working with Campbell Burns toward a debut EP due out in later 2020.
