Tennis NSW today announced details of its new ?Family Day? initiative, designed to make the Medibank International - held during the school holidays - more accessible and family friendly. Family Day, taking place on January 8, 2006 will feature a range of FREE activities to engage kids of all ages including face painting, Taronga Zoo animals and live music entertainment.
Family Day visitors will also have the opportunity to meet their tennis heroes at ATP FanFest, held from 9am to 5pm Sunday to Friday and have a go at fun and interactive activities such as mini tennis, dive volley and speed serve. As an additional incentive, Tennis NSW has for the first time in the event?s history introduced family-friendly ticket prices, providing discounts of around 20 per cent.
Tournament Director, Craig Watson said, "We are very excited about Family Day, making tennis more accessible to the younger generation through initiatives like discounted family ticket pricing, which runs for the duration of the tournament. For just $80, families can join in the action of Family Day with a broad range of activities to suit any age group."
The Medibank International runs from January 8-14 at the International Tennis Centre, Sydney Olympic Park. The event will ignite the 2006 Australian summer of tennis and will feature a stunning line-up of players including Lleyton Hewitt, Rafael Nadal and a number of top ranked women from the Sony Ericsson WTA Tour including Martina Hingis, Kim Clijsters, Justine Henin-Hardenne and Amelie Mauresmo.
