Thandi Phoenix Hot Sauce

"Hot Sauce" is a bouncy and confident bop that evokes the feeling of a steamy summer's day. Its bold melodies and catchy rhythms make it a definite winner. Much like its namesake, "Hot Sauce" is spicy and sure to be a hit amongst those with a refined palate. The single follows soon after the pair linked up on "Guarantees", an R&B-infused dance floor filler at the end of last year.

Thandi says, "I wrote "Hot Sauce" in Sydney last year with Arona Mane. I remember it was a stinking hot day, we were in the studio, and Aaron played me the beat, he said, "see what comes out," then hit record. It was a freestyle that stuck. Lyrically it's super playful, and the beat just captures that summertime feel. Anyone who knows me knows how obsessed I am with hot sauce, so it only felt right to call it that."

Thandi's upcoming 5-track EP, REBIRTH, set to release in mid-June 2023, will be independently released. Despite facing personal and professional challenges, including the loss of family members and a breakup, Thandi used these experiences to grow and push forward. She stepped away from her major label and took control of her career, becoming a self-managed independent artist. "I got sick of needing approval; I wanted to release the music I loved."

Thandi Phoenix, who first broke into the mainstream with the hit single "My Way" in 2018, had a string of successful releases and collaborations with big names in dance and pop, including Sigma and Rudimental. In 2021 her collaborations with Mell Hall saw the duo take out the longest reigning female lead #1 on the Australian ARIA Club chart. 

She has garnered a reputation for her outstanding high energy live performances and established herself as one of Australia's best live performers. Playing at festivals such as Splendour In The Grass, Spilt Milk, This That, CurveBall and Womadelaide. As well as being hand picked to perform at the NRL Grand final in 2019 with One Republic, the Commonwealth Games closing ceremony in 2018 and FireFight bushfire relief concert in 2020. 

With the upcoming REBIRTH EP, Thandi is making a bold statement about her newfound independence as she continues to evolve and explore new sounds - heating things up more than ever before. 

Thandi will be celebrating the release of Hot Sauce at TIVA, 68 King St, Sydney Saturday 11th March 2023, and is also performing at the PRIDE VILLAGES (American Express) Oxford St stage on the 5th March at 4pm.
