The Apartments for Friday Nights at NGV

The Apartments are acclaimed by critics and fans alike all over the world. Peter Milton Walsh formed The Apartments in Brisbane, 1978, and left Australia a few years later, relocating to England when he was signed by legendary English record label Rough Trade. During the years of exile and the albums which followed, The Apartments developed an intense, devoted following throughout Europe and America.  

 

In 2015 The Apartments debut album from 1985, the evening visits... and stays for years was reissued by Brooklyn label, Captured Tracks. In the same month, The Apartments new album No Song, No Spell, No Madrigal was released by Paris label, Microcultures. No Song, No Spell, No Madrigal was named Album of the Year by France's leading music blog/magazine, Magic, and featured in Top 10 and Top 20 Albums of 2015 lists by blogs, magazines and fans throughout Europe and the US.

 

Complementing the Melbourne Winter Masterpieces exhibition Degas: A New Vision, Friday Nights at NGV offer after-hours access to the exhibition, live jazz, short talks, Degas-inspired French food, bars, and live music performances by outstanding local and international acts.
