Winter is coming! And to ring in the chilly season, The District Docklands is about to transform into a spectacular Winter Utopia, complete with a program packed full of exciting activities guaranteed to entertain kids – big and small, during the upcoming school holidays and beyond.

Melbourne's favourite shopping and entertainment precinct is encouraging visitors, young and old, to slide into the cooler months – literally, down its about-to-be-unveiled District Ice Slide.

A highlight of the Winter Utopia program, there's no doubt that hurtling on a tube down the whopping 15m-long slide offers up a thrilling, fun-filled experience for the whole family!

Even better, you'll be sliding for a fantastic cause, with a gold coin donation collected from every slide donated to not-for-profit organisation, Kids Under Cover, to help combat youth homelessness.

And it doesn't stop there. For a truly magical Winter experience, get ready for Snow Play.

Melbourne might be known for four seasons in one day, but at this interactive snowscape in the heart of the Docklands we can confirm there will actually be snow. The 8m x 8m zone is the perfect place to build your very own snowman and make snow angels without even leaving town! Plus, you can take a selfie with the resident Woolly Mammoth or a family portrait next to the giant snow globe.

If you really want to create a little virtual mayhem, try your hand at the Snow Slinger – a chance to fling a barrage of virtual snowballs completely mess free! And for the artistic at heart, the thrilling live ice-carving shows are not to be missed!

But the fun isn't just confined to the kids. Located in Melbourne's Docklands precinct, close to many of the city's largest tourist attractions including ArtVo Immersive Gallery, Melbourne Star and O'Brien Group Arena ice-skating house, The District Docklands offers visitors a unique retail and entertainment experience. Parents can shop up a snow storm with some of Australia's best loved brands including H&M, Cotton On, General Pants Co, Fila and Platypus, make the most of the FREE Wi-Fi or refuel at some of the fantastic cafes on offer.
