The Good Girl is a black comedy set in the future. It's about a robot prostitute, her manager and her maintenance man.
The show is on during Melbourne Fringe Festival, 20th-27th September.
Written in response to speculation that by the year 2050, the sex industry could be dominated by robot prostitutes, the play explores a world where this is a reality. It's about sex, ambition and getting ahead - whatever the cost. It also explores issues of power, consent and the drivers of capitalism. It's also kind of a love story.
Playwright Emilie Collyer was shortlisted for 2012 Patrick White Award and 2012 Edward Albee Scholarship.
It features James O'Connell (recently in Savages by Patricia Cornelius) and Olivia Monticciolo (most recently seen in Bell Shakespeare's Phedre).
PONY.CHILD was founded by O'Connell and Monticciolo after graduating from VCA in 2012. This is the company's second show and their first with Collyer who also graduated from VCA in 2012 and wrote The Good Girl especially for the two actors.
