Think Pink Season

On Friday July 16, Brisbane businesses, retailers, schools and community groups will paint the town pink to raise awareness of, and funds for, The Wesley Hospital Kim Walters Choices Program (Choices) for women and men with Breast Cancer, and their families.

Each year in Australia 11,000 wives, mothers and daughters and 100 husbands, fathers and sons, are diagnosed with Breast Cancer. Each year in July, The Wesley Hospital hosts Think Pink Day to remind the community of the devastating toll Breast Cancer takes on our female, and male, population. Breast Cancer accounts for one per cent of cancers in males.

The Choices Program offers individual specialist support and counselling, specialised groups for partners and young women, complementary therapies, post-surgery exercise classes, and advice about broader life-related topics such as stress management, sexuality issues, exercise and nutrition, for Breast Cancer Survivors and their families.

Choices is a FREE service to the community, regardless of where a patient is diagnosed or is being treated, and is funded by money raised on Think Pink Day.

On Think Pink Day, community members are encouraged to:

hold a pink-themed morning tea or dress in pink for a gold coin donation

sell Think Pink merchandise including pink pens, mugs, lapel pens, boxer shorts

have their hair sprayed pink and enjoy breakfast at the B105 Outside Broadcast

attend the Fashion Friday Pink Luncheon at the Conrad Treasury

dance the night away at the Think Pink Ball at the Carlton Crest
