"The intention was to build on the true beauty of musk, which is not at all heavy or dirty, but has a deep, compelling softness. Inhaling pure musk is a bit like inhaling nude skin," says Tom Ford. "What I discovered is that there's such a spectrum of shades and tones within the musk family that a single fragrance couldn't capture its character."

From one starting point, the exploration of musk unfolded in four distinct directions. The result is a quartet of fragrances, each with its own unique character. TOM FORD PRIVATE BLEND WHITE SUEDE explores the masculine-feminine tension of musk combined with soft leather. JASMINE MUSK wraps rich floral notes around a musky heart. MUSK PURE is an exercise in sublime simplicity. And URBAN MUSK reveals the opulent, oriental tones of this precious ingredient.

The four new fragrances are presented in a new version of the TOM FORD PRIVATE BLEND bottle that has been designed to convey their lighter, whiter spirit. The signature, dark glass "chess piece" flacon is remade in clear glass to showcase the light-colored juices, topped with an ivory cap, and bears an ivory label stamped in gold. Each bottle is packaged in an ivory box with textured cross hatching on the surface. The TOM FORD PRIVATE BLEND WHITE MUSK COLLECTION is offered in this 50ml size only.

White Suede
What happens when the soft, white notes of musk and rose are put into play with the unexpected accord of leather-suede? TOM FORD PRIVATE BLEND WHITE SUEDE explores this duality, creating a fascinating tension between feminine and masculine. Endlessly shifting between its two facets, WHITE SUEDE is a sophisticated and mesmerizing synthesis of two accords from opposite ends of the perfumer's palette.

A rush of Bulgarian rose opens the fragrance, mingled with the first hint of musk. This romantic gesture is beautifully restrained by a trace of golden saffron-a precious spice known for its own duality of bittersweet warmth-with a pinch of pungent thyme.

Then the suede center reveals itself. Leather in its softest iteration, this suede is given shape by smoky notes of mate tea and olibanum, the resin from frankincense trees. A sweet note of lily of the valley brings transparency to the center and ensures the masculine character of deep suede doesn't dominate.

The addictive pull of musk is enhanced by amber and sandalwood, creating the scent's lingering dry down. WHITE SUEDE stays endlessly intriguing as its twin facets of floral-musk and leather-suede evolve in tandem.

Wearing it is like buttoning a crisp white shirt against naked skin, then some time later, relaxing into the most comfortable white environment possible.

MUSK PURE begins with a stunning blend of sparkling aldehydes that create a surge of bright, white energy and help the musk make its uplifting entrance. A twist of the Italian citrus fruit, bergamot and hints of pepper, make these top notes dance with a lively freshness as ylang ylang oppur, the most intense distillation of this narcotic white flower, begins to reveal its intoxicating power.

The middle accord is constructed on a veil of sheer jasmine. The most transparent version of this intoxicating white flower, it is neither too sweet nor too dense. Supporting notes of fresh lily of the valley and orris butter, a prestigious extraction sourced in iris roots, add dimensionality to the jasmine.

A pure accord of ylang ylang and jasmine open the fragrance with a quiet richness; this moves into warmth as a patchouli center blends with the rich florals, bringing a density to the fragrance which grounds the white flower bouquet. The addition of an almost invisible trace of orris adds elegance to the heart.

URBAN MUSK opens with a powerful and confident surge of ambrette seed absolute extra, the only naturally occurring plant known to share musk's olfactory profile. Crisp white pepper co2, a unique extraction of pepper that is neither too hot nor too bright, and cumin, a spice used in minute amounts by perfumers to add a sexually charged note to scent, set the character of Urban Musk: white luxury with an undercurrent of indulgence.

White honey accentuates the creaminess of musk while reiterating the delicious and animalic aspect of musk. Notes of jasmine sambac and black plum fill out the middle accord, ensuring the musk stays vibrant and alive instead of sinking into dark heaviness.
