Tones And I Dance Monkey

Australian breakout artist Tones And I has this week continued her reign at the top of the ARIA Singles Chart with her ARIA accredited triple Platinum song 'Dance Monkey', setting a new record for 8 consecutive weeks at #1 on the ARIA Singles Chart for an Australian Female Artist, surpassing Kylie Minogue's 1987 release 'Locomotion'.

Tones comments "I'm really humbled and honoured. Thank you to all my fans and go Aussie music"

Tones And I is the first Australian artist this year to claim #1 and the first Australian female solo artist since 2015 to reach the coveted top spot. Tones has gone from busking in Byron Bay to topping the charts globally in a matter of months, with 'Dance Monkey' amassing over 200 million streams globally. Internationally, 'Dance Monkey' has hit the #1 position in Sweden, Norway, Ireland, Denmark, Finland, New Zealand, Austria and Switzerland and is accredited Gold in Denmark and Sweden, and Platinum in Ireland.

Tones released her debut EP THE KIDS ARE COMING on August 30th, available now on all streaming platforms on Bad Batch Records via Sony Music Entertainment Australia. THE KIDS ARE COMING debuted at #3 on the ARIA Album Chart upon release.

"THE KIDS ARE COMING is about how old minded people think that the youth of today are constantly on their phones and consumed by social media," explains Tones. "But really, the kids of today stand for community, celebrate gay pride, they are trying to stamp out racism, stop Adani, repair The Great Barrier Reef and many more. It's more than just a song, it's a movement. I truly believe that the youth of today have the power to change the world."

THE KIDS ARE COMING EP also features the ARIA accredited Gold single 'Never Seen The Rain', and breakout ARIA accredited double Platinum single 'Johnny Run Away ', which Tones And I originally uploaded to triple j's 'Unearthed', an artist discovery platform for independent music. Within twelve hours the song was on triple j's airwaves with hosts calling it a 'Hottest 100' contender.
