Tourist U
Following on from To Have You Back, the single which hit #3 on the Hype Machine charts and received both national and community radio support, UK electronic producer and Grammy award winner Tourist returns with Run. Premiered via Zane Lowe, Beats 1 and currently sitting at #6 on Hype Machine, the single is the next cut from Tourist's debut album -U', set for release via Tourist's own Monday Records on May 6th, pre-order available now. His single, Holding On (ft. Josef Salvat & Niia) has clocked over 1.6 million SoundCloud plays and landed high rotation on triple j.
Of his debut Tourist says, 'This is an album that reflects on a relationship I had with someone. I called it 'U" as the word 'You" looks a bit accusatory, and the tone of this album certainly isn't bitter, 'U" is a shape that is balanced but also incomplete, I thought it was a nice visual metaphor for a failed relationship."
Earlier this year Tourist revealed the innovative video for To Have You Back directed by Davy Evans (credits include The XX and Zomby) and Jason Drew (credits include Thom Yorke/Modeselektor) who's manipulated CGI still life and digital colour palettes was the perfect visual accompaniment.
Picking up a Grammy last year for his co-writer role on Sam Smith's -Stay With Me', the classically trained instrumentalist and producer has released three EP's 'Tonight', -Patterns' and self-titled -Tourist'. Tourist has also remixed the likes of Years and Years, HAIM and CHVRCHES. His impressive live set has seen him sell out a headline show in London, as well as play major festivals including Glastonbury, Coachella, Sonar and Reading & Leeds. Tourist is set to play Hangout Festival, London's Field Day, Bestival and New York's Panorama later this year.
