TRIBAL KINGS

Tribal Kings are: MARK PELLEGRINI, MICHAEL T and JASON HEERAH (2x DJs and 1x percussionist/vocalist). Jason recently lent his vocals to the TV Rock & Luke Chable track: 'Happiness.' Mark & MT are notable DJs who have been spinning tunes for years at some of Melbourne's best clubs and are ex-musicians who have their ear to the ground on all hot sounds. Jason is involved in numerous bands who play live on a weekly basis. He's played on TV for various music programs but is most comfortable on a live stage (his performance truly needs to be seen to be believed - nothing short of amazing). Following their Top 10 ARIA Club smash 'Canto Della Liberta,' Tribal Kings have recently released 'To the Beat of the Drum' which is climbing up the ARIA Club Chart at a rapid pace & is #18 w/c 25th May.

Tribal Kings Interview

There are three of you in Tribal Kings- how does this work?

Tribal Kings: Tribal Kings perform Live with 2 DJs & a Live percussionist/Vocalist. One DJ will be playing tracks whilst the other layers acapellas & other tools, while the percussionist improvises to the Beats.


What is the story behind the name Tribal Kings?

Tribal Kings: Rhythm & Drums with an electronic/House feel is the music style we play out live. The name 'Tribal Kings' was a perfect description of our sets.


How do you guys feel when you hear a completed track?

Tribal Kings: After many hours and many different track versions, 'We feel like we are on top of the world' creating a track from an idea, drafting it with different sounds and ideas and then completing the track. It's a great feeling...


What music/artists do you listen to when you are not playing your own?

Tribal Kings: We all have different tastes in music Michael - loves his rock (Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, Deep Purple) Mark - loves his underground 80s Disco/Funk (Patrick Cowley, Bobby O, Arthur Baker, Kano) Jason - loves his reggae/Soul (Bob Marley, George Benson, Stevie Wonder)


Have you ever felt like giving up?

Tribal Kings: What we do is a love, it's in our blood and in our soul. How can you give up something that you love and something that's part of you.


What/who was your inspiration to go into the music industry?

Tribal Kings: The love of the music, we all were brought up with music from an early age.


What's a typical day like for Tribal Kings?

Tribal Kings: In the Studio everyday, working towards completing follow up Tribal King's releases/remixes & shows. Outside the studio, we balance ourselves by kicking back with family & friends.
