True Vibenation The Sunshower Phenomenon
True Vibenation is a group with undeniable talent and soul representing a cultural shift in the Australian hip hop scene. With a take on the music that borrows from genres as diverse as afro-beat, pop, dubstep and blues their debut album 'The Sunshower Phenomenon' sounds like it could have come out of anywhere in the world, yet is distinctly Australian. Not content with sticking to the traditional format of just MCing or DJing the talented trio also reforms into a horn section, performing all horns on the record.
'The Sunshower Phenomenon' is a collection of songs combining heartfelt, intelligent vocals from twins Verbaleyes and Native Wit with rich, textured beats and skilled scratches from DJ Gabriel Clouston. The first single 'Work, Work, Work feat. Alphamama' is an infectious summer-vibed tune and its clip was (perhaps prophetically) filmed at Martin Place in the same spot protesters were forcefully evicted by police two weeks later.

http://youtu.be/HFF4ZZhgneg'No More' is a defiant afro-beat song drawing inspiration from the groups roots in Africa and features the vocals of Zimbabwean singer Chris Gudu and Californian MC Rashaan Ahmad (Crown City Rockers).
True Vibenation was technically founded in 1999 when African/Australian twins Verbaleyes and Native Wit began jamming together as young kids on the trumpet and clarinet. By 2008 they had well and truly caught the hip hop bug and linked up with long-time friend DJ Gabriel Clouston to officially form True Vibenation.
As well as producing beats, each member of the trio plays horns (trumpet, tenor sax and alto sax), laying a strong foundation for lyricists Verbaleyes and Native Wit to tell stories and reflect on their life experiences.
Their live show features the group transforming into a horn section, and incorporates MC'ing, turntablism and spoken word to create a high-energy, passionate show grounded in the fun elements of hip hop.
Over the years the group has developed a reputation for their infectious energy on stage, playing hundreds of shows and festivals, such as Peats Ridge, Future Music, Woodford and Changing Lanes, as well as support slots with Dead Prez, Foreign Beggars, DJ Kentaro, Nickodemus, Horrorshow, Thundamentals, Low Rider and many more.
In 2010 the group co-founded label Big Village with other Sydney artists, choosing to forge their paths in the music industry on their own terms. They have released four albums and are quickly establishing a name as an exciting, young label dedicated to open-minded music and thought-provoking lyrics.
True Vibenation is a community focused group, and run music workshops for kids across NSW - from Sydney to Wagga, to Dubbo. They see hip hop as a great way to encourage kids to be creative and have fun while learning at the same time.
