Every Brilliant Eye: Australian Art of the 1990s will be the setting this year for the free, all-ages program Unplugged Live. Each Sunday afternoon for six weeks, Jae Laffer (The Panics) will host a session in the exhibition space with a live performance by local musicians including Fraser A. Gorman, indie pop artist Gretta Ray and former member of Frente Angie Hart. The Unplugged Live events will also feature discussions on the creative process with the musician and an artist featured in the exhibition.
Tony Ellwood, Director, NGV, said, -Unplugged Live is a popular event on the winter calendar, bringing together the creative worlds of art and music. This will be a unique opportunity to hear artists featured in Every Brilliant Eye speaking about their work in the exhibition space, which will inspire a richer understanding of the 1990s era and associated cultural phenomena.'
In 2017 Unplugged Live brings together a diverse line-up of musicians which also includes -dream beat' artist Sui Zhen, folk-pop songstress Alex the Astronaut and The Peep Tempel singer and guitarist Blake Scott. Every Brilliant Eye artists featured in Unplugged Live will include Sally Smart, Stieg Persson, Louise Weaver, Andrew Browne, Kate Beynon and Kathy Temin.
