Attention Creative School Leavers!
Whitehouse Now Offering Degree Accredited Courses
Options for 2007 school leavers of a more creative persuasion have widened with the announcement the Whitehouse Institute of Design, Australia is launching a new three-year degree accredited course in design in 2008.
'Whitehouse is one of a few select private design colleges to achieve degree accreditation. This is very exciting for all our students and really takes our institute to the next level,' said Leanne Whitehouse, Managing Director of the Whitehouse Institute of Design, Australia.
'To be acknowledged academically in this arena, where we are already producing an abundance of success stories, is a massive coup and just the beginning of huge changes we have in store.'
The Whitehouse Institute of Design has produced hot design property, the likes of Camilla Topper-Freeman of Australian label camilla and marc. Yeojin Bae is another former Whitehouse student who, after designing for a string of high-profile Australian labels, has launched her own self-titled label this year, with huge success.
The Bachelor of Design
The Bachelor of Design will offer students a holistic education in design. The curriculum is structured around both a series of cross-disciplinary study fields common to all the design courses and a series of specialised study fields particular to each of the Whitehouse's design disciplines:
Fashion Design
Interior Design
Styling and Creative Direction
'This is the first time that Styling and Creative Direction has been offered at this degree level, which will make Whitehouse a natural choice for many school leavers,' Whitehouse said.
'We are also the only tertiary institution to offer a cross-disciplinary approach to design,' she added.
The cross-disciplinary strands provide students with knowledge common to all areas of design practice. The degree gives students the skills and knowledge required to be a design practitioner.
The degree is underpinned by a learning culture which encourages innovation and creativity, built on academic foundations of life long learning and a love of design.
Entry into the courses is based on UAI score, portfolio and interview.
