XP Women's League

XP Women's League

In its latest marketing campaign, mobile game Coin Master has called in truly massive star power recruiting both JLO and various Kardashians to appear in their advertising campaign. The focus on female stars is perhaps surprising, however very much en pointe, with over 45% of the global gaming population identifying as female.

Yet the newly emerging esports industry (a form of sport competition using video games), still has a way to go in gender equality, with women still decidedly underrepresented, both in terms of players (currently sitting just north of 35%) and in employment with statistically less than 21% of people employed in the gaming industry being women.

Brisbane-based company, XP Esports, is set to change the status quo, as it gears up to host the first women's only competition in 2020. In an Australian first, the grassroots gaming company has partnered with video game publisher Ubisoft, to create XP Women's League, which kicks off the first season of their Rainbow Six Siege tournament on March 4.

The most exciting women's Esports competition in ANZ, the league offers significant opportunity for women in the Esports and gaming industry to compete on a consistent and professional level.

What's more? It's free.

Indeed, all women in Australia and New Zealand who are enthusiastic about gaming are allowed to enter the XP Women's League competition. Commencing March 4 and running until the end of April, a prize pool worth $3,000 AUD is up for grabs.

In order to encourage female players to join, XP Esports has waived the entry fee for the first season competition, a move they hope will further support women interested in gaming and esports to rally together.
