Bands Perth Emcees Together With 'Eternal Youth' EP
Perth based producer/DJ, YNGRACH has collaborated with what she has described as some of the most exciting underground local rappers to embrace Perth's Hip-Hop culture. 'Eternal Youth' Vol 001 is set to be released on all streaming platforms on January 3rd and will showcase the immense talent coming out of the 6k area code.
The debut EP is a transitional mixture of experimental trap sounds merged with conventional hip-hop to create something truly unique. YNGRACH hopes to captivate her growing audience and shed light on the social issue that continues to arise in creative communities and encourages aspiring artists to break their shell and grab every opportunity they can.
"If you're an artist, let your music express who you are - just be yourself in all aspects of your life." - YNGRACH on embracing artistry.
YNGRACH is no stranger to hitting the road and performing as a prominent DJ interstate and internationally, in fact, the entire EP was birthed from her laptop and gathered its momentum while she was doing so. She has achieved huge milestones such as supporting well-known acts like Flosstradamus and Coolio, as well as supporting locals like Kwame and Arno Faraji. She has also received nods of approval from Dave Ruby Howe of Triple J Unearthed and received a spin, FBi Radio and RTR FM for her debut single 'VADE' earlier this year.
Interview with YNGRACH
Question: How would you describe your music?
YNGRACH: My music is a mix of experimental, eclectic and industrial inspired sounds fused with conventional hip-hop. I like making music that doesn't make sense.
Question: Can you tell us about Eternal Youth Vol 001?
YNGRACH: Eternal Youth is a project I made which volume 001 showcases the talent coming out of 6K. It's a collaboration of a range of artists that I feel are doing big things in their own lane. Volume 001 just means a whole lot more volumes incoming.
Question: What message do you hope this EP spreads?
YNGRACH: Just let your music express who you are - it doesn't have to be what everyone else is doing. Different is good for real. Everyone is on their own path in life, ride your own wave!
Question: Do you prefer performing live or recording?
YNGRACH: Performing live 100, the energy some crowds have is unreal.
Question: What motivates you most when writing music?
YNGRACH: New experiences and experiencing different places are my driving forces for creativity. I try and get away at least once a year to somewhere I have never been to before to see and hear new things. This EP was pretty much produced when I was traveling around and then fine-tuned at home.
Question: Which music/artists are you currently listening to?
YNGRACH: RL Grime, DJ Scheme, Creed Tha Kid, JessB, Mr. Carmack and Spooky Black.
Question: What or who was your inspiration to go into the music industry?
YNGRACH: My earliest memory of the industry was when I was 15/16 at Southbound Festival watching Yacht Club DJ's - that was the first time I had ever experienced a DJ set which opened me up to all genres of music. It wasn't until I was 18 and started seeing all the internationals coming and playing shows that I actually started to teach myself to mix seriously and from then on fell in love with it.
Question: If you could collaborate with another artist, who would it be?
YNGRACH: Kenny Beats - mans a wizard!
Question: What's a typical day like?
YNGRACH: Damn, weekdays I work as a Nurse so getting the bread Monday till Thursday. On weekends it depends on how many shows I have - sussing what music I need to download and if live shows usually have a soundcheck late afternoon then grab a feed with my team and go from there. Any spare time I watch No Jumper haaard!
I co-run a hip-hop platform called 6KMC so if I'm not playing shows we're generally filming and making content at every other rap event!
Question: What has been your favourite part of becoming a music artist?
YNGRACH: People vibing with my music - it amazes me that people actually like what I have released and come out to see me perform. Meeting likeminded people on a regular basis, it's so dope to meet people that have the same goals and visions.
Question: Can you share your socials?
