Zachary Leo Can't Get Enough

 
23-year old Melbourne artist Zachary Leo unites deliciously grooving disco funk vibes with modern pop structures in 'Can't Get Enough'. The Michael Parisi mentoree has honed his signature sound, bringing all the good vibes to wash away the tensions of life.
 
 His musical mixture of wah guitars, exciting bass lines, and airy synths has seen him score multiple spins on triple j as well as high praise from triple j's own Tyrone Pynor who described his 2021 track So Good as being "As the title suggests - So Good."

In a similar vein to super groovers Supathick, Parcels, Frank Moody and Two Another, Zachary Leo carves his own unique sound into the Aussie music arena. Not just an avid crafter of sumptuous soundscapes and decadent melodies, Zachary Leo provides substance beneath the glistening surface as he tackles complex, and often personal, issues with his lyrics. 
 
"The song speaks about being addicted to something that isn't good for you and constantly wanting to distance yourself from reality, something that I found myself doing a lot over the past few years. A lot of my music tends to relate to what is going on inside my head, whether that be happy feelings or feelings of sadness. There are also frequent links to mental health which is something I feel very passionate about sharing with the world, so that hopefully others can feel they aren't alone in their struggles." Since initiating the solo project in 2019, Zachary Leo has worked with esteemed engineers and producers in Guus Hoevenaars (Courtney Barnett, Vance Joy, Tones & I, Tkay Maidza, Kingswood) and on his latest string of releases Alex Markwell (The Delta Riggs, Mark Ronson, Diplo, Portugal The Man, and Blackbear). 
 
WIth a slew of unmatched support slots under his belt for iconic front fronners Cub Sport, Thirsty Merc and Pacific Avenue, Zachary Leo has honed his live performance selling out several headline shows over the past 3 years. This single release is accompanied by a launch show at Cherry Bar in Melbourne on Friday June 10th. It promises to be a memorable show as Zachary Leo brings his prior experience sharing a stage with some of Australia's biggest names. 
 
It's clear that Aussies are trending towards more groove based, light-hearted and uplifting sounds recently. Take Genesis Owusu's smash hits of a similar sound 'WUTD', 'Good Times' and recent Winston Surfshirt collaboration 'There's only One'. Zachary Leo is tapping into this utterly captivating funk-tinged base, yet firmly remaining planted in the contemporary, setting himself up well for a blossoming future. It's clear that he has his finger directly on the pulse of the discerning Aussie ear. 

  The accompanying video is an ode to a summer past gone. Sepia tinge, bold colours, vintage paraphernalia and a skating girl loops and weaves throughout the frames, mimicking the unctuous grooves of the backing track. 

"We shot the video at a number of beaches including St Kilda, Cape Schanck and Shorearm. The video depicts a man struggling to deal with his love for the girl on the rollerskates, but deep down what he is really dealing with is his addiction to material possessions that are distorting his reality, this is shown through the television and the lamp that are flashed throughout the video."
