The Blak Markets continues the tradition of celebrating Father's Day this year at the new location of Centennial Park, 10 minutes from the Sydney CBD. The Blak Markets will run from 8:00 am – 2:00pm on Sunday, September 2 in conjunction with the Indigenous Marathon Foundation's WARRIOR Run which starts at 9:00 am.
Entertainment on the day will include a traditional dance by Ngaran Ngaran, who will also perform a Warrior dance to celebrate great men. Arts and craft will continue to be a focus of these Blak Markets, market goers can take part in an art workshop with Karleen Green, who will host a free weaving workshop.
The Blak Markets features authentic, unique and affordable Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander artworks, beauty products, homewares and jewellery and are a great chance to buy gifts for your loved ones with 100% of the profits going back into Aboriginal communities. This Father's Day, visitors can peruse Indigenous clothing stalls, one-off painted wood and shell work art, as well as attend a healing workshop.
You'll also be able to taste bush tucker delicacies including our Gourmet Bushfood Sausages (made from kangaroo, emu, crocodile and wild boar) and our delicious Kangaroo Burger (with native peppers). There will also be live cooking demonstrations from Aboriginal food expert Jody Orcher.
