From an early age Dean Geyer thought he was destined for sports, but somewhere along the line his love of music took over and shone through. Dean Geyer followed in his famous father's footsteps, learning karate from the age of 3. Dean and his family migrated to Australia from Johannesburg, South Africa, and instantly fell in love with the sunshine, culture, "and a much safer environment".
After watching a friend perform, he had guitar lessons and started to listen to pop/rock acts like Creed, Lifehouse and Goo Goo Dolls. A musical style began to emerge and at 18, Dean formed a band, now known as After Hours.
