Review: Downsizing tells the story of an everyday couple, Paul (Matt Damon) and Audrey (Kristen Wigg), who are fed up with the trials and tribulations of their middle class life and find a peculiar way out of their mundane existence.
A group of esteemed Norwegian scientists invent a machine that shrinks humans to five inches small, as a solution to overpopulation. In 'Leisure land', the miniature community, where the small go to live, the cost of living is low and the lifestyle is lavish.
Paul and Audrey decide to undergo the invasive medical procedure, as they are assured, "it's the best decision they'll ever make!"
Following an unforeseen turn of events, Paul and Audrey are separated, leaving Paul alone in the 'small' community. Here, Paul begins a journey through the new world, as he is torn between his desires for instant gratification verses a more meaningful existence. Paul's dilemma humorously reflects the innate struggles of the human condition.
Paul encounters an array of colorful characters throughout his journey, including Dusan (Christoph Waltz), Jeff (Neil Patrick Harris) and Dave (Jason Sudeikis), each with their own hilarious charm and unique way of making a difference in the world, however big or small.
