To coincide with Anzac Day commemorations, Federation Square and the Australian Film Institute are collaborating to present two free public screenings of Peter Weir?s 1981 AFI award winning film Gallipoli, starring Mel Gibson and Mark Lee.
The screenings will occur on Anzac Day, Friday, 25 April at 1pm and 7pm on the Big Screen at Fed Square. The newly-installed, high definition screen will bring to life the beauty of comradeship and the brutality of war captured in Weir?s film.
The screening of Gallipoli is part of the AFI?s 50th Anniversary, celebrating 50 years of achievement in Australian film, television and other moving image industries.
Arrive early to secure your Fed Square deckchair or bring a picnic rug and relax in the Square. Please note, while alcohol is not permitted, pre and post-movie food and beverages are available from the various Fed Square bars and restaurants - visit
