WA band, HAIRCARE bring to the table an alternative rock/indie lo-fi nostalgia which is in league with the genres best. HAIRCARE share their new single 'For Koji', a homage to Nintendo soundtrack composer Koji Kondo. The track, which premiered on triple j Unearthed, is the third single from the band's forthcoming debut EP HAIRXARE, due for independent release on September 9.
'For Koji' follows the release of EP tracks 'Hot Topic' and 'On The Side', which saw rotation from triple j Unearthed and FBi, as well as further airplay across community radio and triple j. HAIRCARE's previously released singles have lead to support slots for the likes of Aldous Harding, Ali Barter, Stella Donnelly, Good Boy and Body Type, as well as a national tour supporting San Cisco.
Of the new single vocalist and guitarist, Broderick says, "sonically 'For Koji' is an ode to Koji Kondo, composer for Nintendo and sole writer for the Mario and Legend of Zelda musical scores. The song deals with themes that I usually try and escape from via books and video games. It is essentially escapism at its finest."
The band; made up of members Broderick Madden-Scott, Jack Gaby, Oscar Van Gas and Benny Trouchet, create a style reminiscent of staples such as The Strokes & MGMT, ranging through to the oddities of Ariel Pink, Unknown Mortal Orchestra and Connan Mockasin.
Mixed and produced by the band themselves in Brodericks Fremantle studio, their debut EP HAIRXARE, sees the band flex their wide reach of production and writing styles, showing testament to the band's lovability and unique stance on songwriting.
