What would you do if you only had 12 hours left?
This question occurred to Kitto on a bus in London last October as news was broadcast of the first bombs falling on Afghanistan. The independent singer-songwriter was en route to Heathrow Airport, on her way back to Australia for the release of her
Princess of Tragedy CD and a summer tour, "and was overwhelmed by a slurry of words." The result was a dynamic new song,
Glorious.
In Australia, where the first single off the "Princess of Tragedy" album,
Bus Driver, received strong support from major and regional radio in networks, Kitto hit the boards solo, playing niche opening spots, clubs and the university circuit.
During that time, she presented a raw version of "Glorious" and was consistently blown away by the audience reaction. It drew her back to her power chord roots.
Returning to pop mecca Sweden in April, Kitto went into the studio with drummer Bil Bryant, guitarist/bassist Anders Molin and guitarist Micke Ostling, picked up her trademark acoustic guitar and blasted into "Glorious" creating a unique sonic mix of femme fatal power with a big buzz twist. The sound is honest and pure, straight form the stage to disk.
With its cranking guitar gusto, the result is urgent, gritty, poignant and confronting, bursting with attitude and energy.
Currently on tour in Europe, Melbourne-born Kitto will be touring Australia in January-April 2003.
