Discover the myths, stories and legends of the Goldfields, as Sovereign Hill launch their new 'Lamplight Tours', giving visitors a rare glimpse into Sovereign Hill after dark.
The Lamplight Tours will run every Thursday, Friday and Saturday evening (as well as every day during school holiday periods), and will allow visitors to explore the dimly-lit streets, cottages, laneways and buildings of the outdoor museum, all under the glow of lamplight.
Led by costumed Sovereign Hill guides, visitors will learn about the characters that lived in the goldfields, the illnesses, accidents and deaths that gripped them, and even encounter tales of the strange and abnormal!
"Visitors will be able to see Sovereign Hill in a whole new light as they discover some of the dark, eerie secrets of the men and women who called the goldfields home," says Sovereign Hill's Director of Marketing Jennifer Ganske. "We wanted to provide our guests with a unique perspective of Sovereign Hill, after most other visitors have gone home, and the Lamplight Tours are a fantastic way to explore Sovereign Hill after dark."
Starting at a cosy hotel bar in Main Street before venturing into the night to visit some very intriguing places and characters, the Lamplight Tours will run for 60 minutes, twice each evening.
Tickets are priced at $29.00 for adults, $24.00 for children, and $24.00 for concession holders. A Dinner and Tour package is also available.
Lamplight Tours at Sovereign Hill will run until the new Blood on the Southern Cross show is re-launched in early 2019. The tours are recommended for ages 10 and above, however younger children are welcome at the discretion of their parents.
