"Halloween is a very scary time for fairies," says Wendy Harmer. "The ghosts and ghouls and witches who are abroad that night are no friend of the fairy. In folk lore witches capture fairies and use them in their cauldrons to make their brews more powerful!"
In "Hideous Halloween" (written by Wendy Harmer), Pearlie with the help of her Great Aunt Garnet, sets about making a safe haven for everyone by enchanting a pumpkin into a magical Jack-o-Lantern. Now with everyone inside it will be invisible to any nasties wandering the park. Once inside, Garnet, Jasper and Opal all tell spooky stories to pass the time til dawn, each other scarier than the next!
Great Aunt Garnet regales all with a tale about the time she thought a ghost had haunted the clock tower (where her shop is) only to find she had an over-zealous house Brownie in the fireplace. While Jasper tells of the time he got caught sleeping outside by a warlock. Opal tells of the time she was in the desert and came up against a mischievous rain sprite.
Saphira refuses to join them in the Magical Jack-O-lantern, but when Ludwig gets locked outside, his efforts to get into the spa give her the biggest scare of all.
