Fresh from the release of their debut eclectic masterpiece Overflow in September, the enigmatic Melbourne duo SAATSUMA has today announced a series of headline performances in December. All proceeds from the Melbourne Gasometer show will be donated to the Asylum Seeker Resource Centre in support of refugees on Manus and Nauru, and ending Australia's shameful, inhumane offshore processing policy, a cause the band feel strongly about. "There is a humanitarian crisis happening IN OUR NAME on Manus Island RIGHT NOW."
Danceable and dynamic, yet intimate and emotive, SAATSUMA's live show is an unmissable and highly immersive sonic experience. Making their mark at BIGSOUND 2016, SAATSUMA have since played on line ups for Paradise, The Hills Are Alive, St Kilda Festival and The Plot as well as sharing the stage with the likes of Dorsal Fins, Thelma Plum, Olympia, Vera Blue, Yeo and PNAU.
Rounding out an impressive year, SAATSUMA will also join New World Artists stellar live roster that includes Daniel Johns, Mallrat and Slumberjack where they will be represented exclusively throughout Australasia by Dominic Miller and Edwin Tehrani.
'SAATSUMA are everything that is great about the Australian music scene right now and we are over the moon to be working with them. 'Overflow' is on high rotation in the New World Artists office and has been for the last 6 months. It's one of the many benefits of the job we do to be constantly working with our favourite Australian artists."
Composed of Memphis LK and Cesar Rodrigues, SAATSUMA's most recent offering encapsulates the pair's glowing production finesse and lyrical dexterity. Combining trademark smouldering vocals, infectious beats, warped synth and throbbing bass, with entrancing reference to the overarching theme of water, their debut album, Overflow represents the beginning of a glowing future for SAATSUMA.
