Saritah: Ancient Forward
Conscious Roots artist Saritah (sa-REE-ta) launches her second album, Ancient Forward, through MGM on August 7.
South Korean born and raised in Western Australia, Saritah is a hard-working independent artist and has built a solid fan base across the country. Since the release of her debut album 'Gratitude' in May 2004, and her 'These Days/You're The One' EP in September 2005, Saritah has toured consistently both within Australia and overseas, performing over 400 live shows.
Saritah has graced the stage of many of Australia's well loved festivcals including the Big Day Out, the West Coast Blues and Roots Festival, Woodford folk Festival, Reggaetown, Island Vibe and Peats Ridge amongst many others. Overseas Saritah has performed at the Greenroom Festival (Japan), Sori Festival (South Korea), Parihaka International Peace festival (Aotearo/New Zealand) and Canadian Music Week (Toronto).
Now she steps forward with the new album Ancient Forward, recorded at Brisbane's Tanuki Lounge with producer/bass player Paulie B (bass player for The Beautiful Girls and George). The album is a strong, colourful and diverse collection of songs that move from dancehall to roots reggae to acoustic soul and more, marketing Saritah's evolution as a dynamic artist with a global sound. Ancient Forward is engaging, uplifting and playfully powerful.
Saritah has a soulful sound mixed with calm beats and gracefully airy lyrics. The short powerful tracks are relaxing and prove Sartiah talent; the lyrics are influential whilst the music easily flows through creating a comforting sound. Two words come to mind: Jamaican Jungle.
In support of the album release Saritah will be touring nationally in August. Her energetic live performances are sure to captivate her exiting fans and win the hears of many newcomers.
